Dare I say it’s more important to plan for postpartum than it is to plan for birth. Comparably, birth is a quick blip of time, whereas postpartum can be defined as the weeks or months after birth. The postpartum period is as long as it takes your body, mind, and spirit to fully heal, so it’s different for every person. Because this time period can be just as long as your pregnancy, you have to make sure you’re prepared to take care of yourself fully. Below are my top postpartum products that every birthing parent should have to ensure an optimal postpartum experience and facilitate proper healing.
Frida Mom Labor and Delivery + Postpartum Recovery Kit
This Frida Mom Kit has everything you need for a comfortable birth and postpartum recovery. From gowns to upside-down peri bottles, this will have you covered from beginning to end. Stock up on the healing essentials with this “motherload” of a recovery kit.
Over-the-Toilet Sitz Bath

This Sitz Bath is definitely high on the list of postpartum products. It’s simple to use, just set it on top of your toilet and fill with warm water and your favorite Sitz Bath Salts or herbal blend. This will help to soothe and heal your vulva, perineum, and help with hemorrhoids. It’ll feel so good, you won’t want to get up!
Depend Silhouette Disposable Underwear
Nobody said postpartum was glamorous! After giving birth, you will have lochia bleeding (period-like blood) and discharge for a few weeks. You may be given mesh underwear and large pads from the hospital, but these disposable underwear are SO much more comfortable. They look and feel like regular underwear and won’t give you that bottom “bulge” that looks like you’re wearing a diaper.
Haakaa Suction Manual Breast Pump
The Haakaa is amazing. It uses suction to express breastmilk and requires little effort. It’s easy to put on and incredibly easy to use. It’s also great to put on one breast while your baby feeds on the other, so you can catch any leaked milk. Don’t let that liquid gold go to waste! You can then immediately feed that caught milk to your baby straight from the Haakaa or store it in bags/bottles for later use.
Earth Mama Organics Organic Nipple Butter
As with anything, prevention is always easier than repair. Use this Nipple Butter throughout the day to stave off chapped and cracked nipples from breastfeeding. It’s super moisturizing and can also be used on any dry skin patches you’ve got, and can even be put on chapped lips! This stuff is heavenly!
