What My Clients Say

Hailey Thompson Bonus
“She came to our house to teach us the infant care class, and made the whole process so easy and painless. She's super knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and brought a doll and props to literally give us hands on experience.”

Veronica Robinson
“She covers a lot of information in a short amount of time, while also making it manageable and applicable. We could not be as confident as we are without her.”

kelsey dolby
“She was a great coach leading up to the birth and through the hypnobirthing course. She coached us through all the twists and turns. She was calm the entire time and so incredibly helpful. At one point during my surges my mantra was "Denise is here. I am safe."”

Hi! I’m Denise Curtis. I’m a CAPPA Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and HypnoBirthing® Certified Educator in the Los Angeles area. I’ve helped thousands of families just like yours learn what to expect and how to face birth with confidence and readiness.
I’ve heard it all so many times:
“I want an unmedicated birth but have no clue how to achieve that.”
“I likely want an epidural, but need to know more about it.”
“I don’t know what my rights are and I don’t want the providers doing things that I may not need or be okay with.”
The birth space is sacred and you should have full control over what that space looks and feels like at all times. The way to have that control is to understand exactly what’s going on in labor and be able to make fully informed decisions along the way.
Let’s get together in this 2-day class and get you and your birth partner fully prepared for anything that may come your way during birth.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the class?
This weekend intensive class is 8 hours in total, but split into two 4-hour days in one weekend.
Am I able to bring my birth partner?
Absolutely! It’s best to bring whomever you plan to have as your main support person at your birth. That can be your spouse, significant other, friend, parent, or birth partner. (Only 1 partner is allowed per registration.)
When is the ideal time in pregnancy to take a Childbirth Class?
The ideal time to take a Childbirth Class is toward the end of your 2nd trimester. However, this class is open to individuals at any stage of pregnancy. Some may find it beneficial to take this class in their first trimester to ease anxiety or start the planning process. Whereas some may want to take the class in their third trimester so the information is fresh in their mind at birth.
What sets your class apart from the others?
My classes are filled with all of the information you’ll need to understand and fully prepare for your upcoming birth. I teach in a well-rounded, easy-to-understand, and engaging way so that this class can be not only educational but also a good time among friends. I’m constantly updating my class curriculum to always be up-to-date on all current research, guidelines, medical/midwifery trends, and feedback from past participants. I will always keep it real and answer all of your burning questions. In my many years as a Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Educator, I have helped thousands of families feel ready for and empowered in their births. My approach is based on current scientific evidence, and is friendly and non-judgmental. I embrace all different birth choices that families make based on cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds. I fully support all ideals and plans, and will offer information and guidance to empower you to give birth YOUR way. My classes are held in locations that are private and comfortable to give you the space to move freely, openly ask questions, and practice birth positions and comfort measures without feeling embarrassed. I strive to make my classes an enjoyable, open learning experience where you can connect with other families and start creating your “tribe” to have support after our class.
How much does the class cost?
This in-person weekend intensive class is $389. You can come alone or bring up to 1 partner with you.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. However, most insurance plans cover the part or all of a childbirth education class expense. Check with your insurance company or employer to find out if childbirth classes are included in your benefits. Childbirth classes are also eligible for reimbursement with an HSA/FSA/HRA account. You should also check if your employer has a benefit called Carrot Fertility. They offer coverage for an array of fertility and birth services, including childbirth education. A detailed invoice and class outline can be provided for insurance reimbursement upon request.
